HISTORIC OTTAWA HOUSE BY-THE-SEA MUSEUM - Built circa 1775, this Georgian-style dwelling overlooking island, beach and bay, was originally the focal point for world renowned shipbuilding and international trading businesses. In 1871, Sir Charles Tupper, Prime Minister and Father of Confederation, purchased and expanded the house as his summer residence for the next 18 years. After thriving for nearly a century as a country inn, Ottawa House is now a museum devoted to exhibiting and interpreting part of Tupper's life, as well as the seafaring, lumbering and social history of the Parrsboro Shore. Programming includes: Sunday concerts on the verandah; costumed teas; ongoing activities for children; plus genealogical research facilities.

Operated by: Parrsboro Shore Historical Society
